Guérande – The salt marshes
It’s hard to miss if you stay in Loire-Atlantique. The salt marshes of Guérande are part of the local heritage. Covering more than 2,000 hectares, this protected natural site can be discovered all year round, but it is between June and September that the salt workers harvest the coarse salt and the fleur de sel that make its reputation. Bird lovers of all species, bring your binoculars for a chance to see the white stilts and grey herons that live here.

Guérande – The medieval city
Then visit the medieval city by walking through the paved streets lined with old houses with slate roofs. Take the covered way between the 6 towers and visit the collegiate church of Saint-Aubin or the chapel of Notre-Dame-la-Blanche. Admire the fortified gates of which the main entrance, the Saint-Michel gate, dates from the 15th century. Let yourself be carried away and cross the centuries!

The Regional Park of La Brière
