The Gr34,famous coastal path of Brittany, or also called Sentier des Douaniers, offers hikers an unforgettable experience through breathtaking landscapes, steep cliffs, fine sandy beaches and magnificent picturesque villages. Pointe de Merkel

La Pointe de Merkel,in the first stages if you are leaving from Guérande or Piriac-sur-Mer, located in the town of Saint-Pierre-Quiberon, in Morbihan in Brittany, is an emblematic place in the region. This point offers visitors a spectacular panorama of the wild coast of Quiberon, renowned for its steep cliffs, secret coves and crystal clear waters.

This rocky promontory, located at the end of the Quiberon peninsula, is the starting or finishing point for many walks along the GR 34 coastal path.Hikers can admire breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, with the surrounding islands such as Belle-Île-en-Mer or Houat and Hoëdic as a backdrop.

The Pink Granite Coast

One of the most spectacular parts of the GR 34 is undoubtedly the Pink Granite Coast, located between Perros-Guirec and Ploumanac’h. This portion offers hikers a unique spectacle with its impressive pink-hued rock formations, sculpted by natural elements over the centuries. The famous granite rocks, such as the “Napoleon’s Hat” or the “Château de Costaérès”, line the path and offer breathtaking panoramas of the ocean.

The Pink Granite Coast is also a place rich in history and culture. The typical villages that dot the coast, such as Ploumanac’h or Trégastel, offer visitors the opportunity to discover Breton heritage and its traditions.

The Crozon Peninsula
